A note from Tyler Lucy, owner of Blue Ridge Moving, on why he started the company, what he wanted it to be, and the one rule that has run every move since 2021.
I don't think anyone grows up wanting to own a moving company. I sure didn't. What I grew up wanting was to be the kind of person whose word actually meant something, the kind you'd want showing up at your door when something needed to get done right. That's the bar my family set for me, and it's the one I've tried to live by ever since.
Blue Ridge Moving started in 2021, right here in Bedford County, in the same mountains I grew up in. It began small, with one truck and a simple idea: treat people's homes and belongings the way I'd want mine treated. No corporate playbook, no call center, no cutting corners when nobody's looking. Just honest work, done well, for my neighbors.

Before Blue Ridge, I spent four and a half years in law enforcement. That work taught me something I built this whole company on: show up, do what you said you'd do, and stand behind your word, especially when it's hard. People let you into their lives in that job, and they have to be able to trust you completely. Moving isn't so different. You're letting a crew into your home, around everything you own.
That trust is the whole thing.
So I built the moving company I'd want showing up at my own front door. One where the person whose name is on the company actually answers the phone. Where the price you're quoted is the price you pay. Where the crew wraps your furniture like it matters, because to the person who owns it, it does. That was the whole idea, and it still runs every job we do.
Four years and more than 1,500 moves later, that promise hasn't changed. The crew has grown. The trucks are newer. We've learned a lot about the little things that make a move go smoothly. But the rule on day one is the rule today: handle every move the way we'd want our own handled.
We're not a national chain that rolled into town. We live here. We work here. The families we move are the same folks we see around Lynchburg and Roanoke and out by the lake. That's not a marketing line, it's just the truth of how this works, and it's the reason I still take it personally when we earn someone's trust.
So if you've got a move coming up anywhere in the Blue Ridge, I'd be glad to earn yours. Reach out, tell us about your move, and we'll take it from there. Thanks for taking the time to get to know us a little.
